Peplum!!

Not only is this word fun to say but man does it ever look gorgeous on anyone! The peplum cut is universally flattering to any figure, it hides any belly and hip insecurities, what more can a girl ask for. This trend has appeared in so many designer's recent collections, the 50's cut/mad men inspired looks are pulling the peplum out of it's shell. And am I ever glad it did, whether it be a peplum skirt, dress or top it's the easiest thing to wear. With this trend you should sport tight fitted clothing and let the pep be the only flare in the outfit, it'll show off your awesome curves! I don't know how long this trend will stick so hurry up and get some pep ladies!

Oh and I've changed the font for this post, thoughts? I'm thinking of making this one permanent...

Lots of love,
Jess

Runway to Real Way

Here is a recently awakened trend, I think with all this nice sunny weather people are getting the summer itch so summer trends are popping up sooner this year... the trend is floral prints!! With all the digital technology these days fun funky prints are easier to come by, so these bold prints are making a big statement on the fashion industry. Floral was seen a lot on the Spring runways for example Diane Von Furstenberg, Isabel Marant, Louis Vuitton and many more collections this season featured the floral trend.

I personally love this trend for the spring because it's very fun, flirty and it's cool to play around with. You can dress it up or down, floral skinny's with a blazer, or a floral blazer with harem pants, which ever way you choose to wear this trend it'll benefit you gracefully.

For my curvy girls I would stick with a medium bloom not to over whelm your figure we want to accentuate your curves the right way so you look like a goddess! For my petite girly's if you are to wear print floral pants, I would stick a skinny cut with a smaller bloom to make your legs look a mile long! Well ladies that's it for this trend report, I hope you guys try being bold with this one. Let this piece speak for itself and tone down the rest of your outfit, runway isn't always the way you should take on the trend, make it your own!

polaroids.

Dear aspiring models,
the first step to success in the modeling industry is to get signed. In order to do so you need you must catch the attention of agencies or scouting agents. Any agency or scout could ask you to provide them with "Polaroid pictures" which are pictures of you looking at your most natural (bare to minimal makeup, naturel hair and natural lighting) and to have tight fitted clothes and or a bathing suit. These shots must include one full length, side profiles, and waist up. Again these pictures are very useful for models to have on hand, because being overly prepared is better then nothing at all.  So that was my wisdom for today, hope it helped! Here are my Polaroids.. enjoy (p.s. the window shots aren't for the polaroids, those are just for fun! hehe)

model of the moment.

Dear Hipsters,
I have recently discovered a model named Freja Beha Erichsen, I wanted to share her with you guys. She has this very edgy/hipster look, very unique face. Since she is my recent obsession I felt she deserved a spot on my blog. Oh and her tattoo's are super cool, loveeee the word bracelet (not quite sure what it says).

Voila!

Lots of love from your one and only,
Jess

new adventures.

Dear admirer's,
I am pleased to announce that I am officially a signed model! I am beyond excited to join the ranks of incredible woman over at City Models. I met with the Director Angela Champagnoni this past Monday and I could not be more happy with my decision to join the agency. Being a fashion enthusiast it was inevitable that modeling would appeal to me, but never in my wildest dreams would I have thought it would take me so far, nor that I would become so fond of the craft. I get quite a thrill being in front of a camera, and I've become accustom to practicing poses in front of the mirror (as the great Tyra Banks has taught me!). So the point of this post was to bring you guys this amazing news and to remind myself of the feeling I have been living with these past few days, the incredible joy that I have and the feeling of something great rising. I am forever grateful for this opportunity and can't wait to start this adventure into the fashion industry. My gratitude is strong this week and shall stay with me forever, thanks to everyone that helped me get to this point.

Lots of love,
Jess

trends.

Dear fashionista’s,
The point of my post today was to help you girls achieve the tribal trend! As I have talked about before I have styled a shoot themed to the tribal trend, so I’ll pass along the knowledge of pulling this trend off in your day to day life, because the editorials of this trend can seems a bit wild to pull off at times.

So a loose definition of this trend is bold tribal like pattern (often in earth tones), monochromatic prints, bold accessories (wooden, rustic, bold statements). Now if you want to keeps this trend to a minimum try letting the print speak for itself, so paring it with simple staples in your wardrobe (plain basics), or if you want to invest very little into the trend, try just the tribal like accessories with your day to day wardrobe. But if you’re feeling daring for a night on the town try committing to the trend completely, tribal patterns, the bold accessories with hair and makeup to match. This trend is so fun to play with because you can literally be wild, messy hair goes great with this trend and fun/ funky makeup is also very relevant.

So ladies, be bold! Try bringing this trend into your day to day style; bring out your inner wild child you won’t regret it... aaand if you do at least you tried!

Lots of love,
Jess.

P.S. Happy International Women’s day!!

award season wrap up - part 2.

And here they are... My Worst Dressed list for the 2012 Award season. Brace yourself, it's about to get all sorts of ugly.

My number one worst dressed person of the 2012 award season is Nicki Minaj! Wearing custom Versace. Why in gods name would you wear that with all the money you posses and Versace making you a custom made gown you choose to look like a Nun on acid? I have nothing more to say about this atrocity.

In at number two is Fergie, this dress is disappointing. She has an amazing body and she thought she could display it this way but really it just looks like the designer forgot the lining. And mixed with the conservative neckline it's all too confusing.

#3 Robyn! What is on her feet?! It looks like she's about to go hunting with a mixture of the old Spice Girl's styled gogo boots? Pared up with the mullet skirt this is a recipe for disaster! The hemline is also way to short and does not look flattering.

#4 Amanda Peet Getty. Why on earth did she pick this, this is a gorgeous girl with incredible features and she picked a dress that does nothing for her body! The hemline is too short and makes her look awkward.

In at number 5 is Sarah Michelle Geller, this look to me is not a total lost cause, yes it looks like a ginormous pen leaked on her but if you take all of the blue away, maybe de-emphasize the pouff this dress would look gorgeous!

#6 is Shailene Woodley! I was expecting so much of her at the oscars this year, she's a young up and comer and you'd think that she would want to be noticed. Well she got noticed but not for the right reasons. This dress is way too old for her, it's the time to have fun with your wardrobe choices you have the rest of your life to wear long sleeves and floor length gowns, not now girl.

award season wrap up.

Dear Tv-holics,
If your like me and follow every single award show red carpet then the past two months must have been just as fun for you as it was for me. I am a big fan of the show, Fashion Police, and every time an award show has wrapped up they discuss the fashions that were seen on the red carpet. So in the spirit of the last major award show ending *The Oscars* I figured that I would put together a little blog post to commemorate the major award shows of 2012. I am going to be featuring my top 6 favorite looks in this blog post and will follow up with my least favorite looks. And so it begins...

In the #1 spot is Jessica Chastain wearing custom made Alexander McQueen at the Oscars ! And no it's not because she has the same name as me that I picked her, it's because this dress makes her look exquisite, this woman is barely wearing any makeup and looks like perfection, and even her half up hair do is breath taking. She accessorized to perfection by letting the dress speak for itself. With her skin tone and hair color working so well with the tones of this dress she is my number one pick.
In at second place is Rihanna at the 2012 Grammy Awards, wearing Armani. This dress makes Rihanna look soooo sexy it's incredible! This dress could've gone really slutty really easily but the minimal accessories and simple lady like heels left it looking very classy. Just the right amount of skin and her blonde hair made it look like a mixture of Joan Jet and Whitney Houston. Loved it so much it was tied with number one.  (I posted the second picture because I loved that she did a dark plum lip as the night went along. And because Katy Perry looks better with her Gucci dress inside the Grammy's then what she was wearing on the red carpet.)

In third is Lea Michele wearing Marchesa at the Golden Globe awards. I hate this girl as much as I love her. On the red carpet she always over poses like she's shooting a bad fashion campaign, but her style is pretty much always impeccable. So because of my love hate relationship with her it landed her my number three look of the season.

In at #4 is Sofia Vergara wearing Vera Wang, as much as this woman annoys me a little she always looks gorgeous! This is one of my favorite looks because she didn't over do it as she tends to do sometimes. The lovely mermaid style dress looks amazing on her. And the styling is perfect, keeping it simple was very smart.

My number five look is of course the one the only, Angelina Jolie wearing Atelier Versace at this years Oscar awards. So it's not even that this is my favorite dress but simply because she looks like a goddess in it. The red lips look superb, but her prosthetic looking leg that lasted all night (not a big fan). Sorry Angie ...

And last in my #6 spot is Taylor Swift wearing Zuhair Murad Fall 2011 Couture. This looked amazingggg on her at the grammy's she won big and the gold represented that well. I was so happy to see Taylor branching out from her cookie cutter girly dresses that I needed to post her up too. So proud.

tribal.

Dear animals,
I was recently given the chance to work with the amazing photographer, Denis Duquette once again but this time not as a model, as a stylist. So for my first official styling job I really wanted to give it my all but without giving myself overwhelming challenges for my first time. I started simple, top trends. From there I looked through many and consulted with my resources but concluded with the ever so popular tribal trend! I was very pleased with my decision because this is such a fun trend it was easy just to go wild. Literally, we were making our model show her teeth like she was growling. For this shoot, I was very inspired by Donna Karen's Spring 2012 collection and also Herve Leger's, both tribal-esque collections. So needless to say it was easy to have fun with it, and I had an incredible team to work with Camille Ferron the model, Melissa Duguay the hairstylist, Nicola Jefferis the makeup artist and last but not least photographer Denis Duquette.

I leave you with pictures from behind the scenes. And links to Denis' website and Nicola's facebook page.
