new year, new beginnings.

Dear darlings,

I've decided to kick off the New Year's celebrations early with little tweeks to my blog and a fist full of positive thoughts and inspiration. Let's begin with New Years Eve, nothing but the best parties of the year! Have you found an outfit yet? Don't panic too much you still have two more days. And let's face it, no matter how intense you choose to go with your outfit, on New Years Eve nobody really cares, it's the one night a year to have fun and be fancy! Look up "New Years Eve Outfits" on pinterest and all that pops up is sparkle!

Sparkle, Sparkle, Sparkle!! I think it's the only time of year that it's socially acceptable to wear a high volume of it. Your three key pieces for your outfit is sparkle, a deep fun lip color and amazing shoes! And your all set.

Now for my fist full of inspiration, it began when I moved back home from Toronto. Now don't get me wrong it didn't hit right away, because when I first came back home I was so shaken up by my experience in the big city that everything involving fashion just seemed evil to me. This industry that I worked in and that I loved so truly had broken my heart, and I was like a teenage girl again trying to find her way out of heartbreak. And in the midst of my resentment I felt lost and confused about what I wanted to pursue in life.

After a lot of soul searching I realized that leaving fashion behind just seemed foolish. There's a reason I loved it so much and that I always found myself coming back to it. Whether it be with modeling, styling or working retail, I love every aspect of it and I feel at my best when surrounded by it.  And though the big city wasn't meant for me, fashion can follow you wherever you go and wherever you choose to put down roots.

I'm slowly learning to separate the good from the bad in the fashion industry. And that not all of it is fake, and not everyone in it is artificial or cruel either. Theirs a fare few of warmhearted people out there that work there amazing magic to make fashion what it is today, and without them I think it'd be lost. The industry represents beauty for a reason, if you look close enough you can see the raw magnificence that lies behind it... the love for the art and the creation that comes out of it.

essentials for the soul.

Dear loves,
here is the ultimate guide into the essentials of my wardrobe. First thing you should know is the ultimate rule I live by when shopping: "If I can't wear it three different ways it's not worth buying."

Now I do cheat on this rule from time to time, but it's mostly for special occasions. But anyways here are my essentials that I can't live without... :)

1. Oversized Sweater's:

2. Basic white and black tank :

3. Perfect shade of red lipstick:

4. Skinny Jeans:

5. Black Leggings:

6. Scarfs:

7. Combat Boots:

8. Cross body bag:

9. Leather Jacket:

10. Perfect jewelry:

girly grunge boy.

Dear you,
I've got a weird post title, huh? Well in the past few months my view on fashion has changed quite a bit, as I think it does for everyone after a certain faze in your life. I've recently had to restrict myself on shopping and I've been looking at my wardrobe in an entire new light. Trying outfits I had never thought of before, finding clothing I had forgotten about, etc. Needless to say I've been utilizing my clothing to it's full potential! But in my recent budget cuts, I've started to discover my own personal style... more then ever.

For example, I'm partially over heals. Sure they're gorgeous! And sometimes look like a piece of art, but let's be honest... They hurt like a bitch. Don't get me wrong I'm not swearing them off forever, but let's not kid our self's, you can't stand in them for a 12h day. So why not opt for a practical and still perfectly stylish flat, sneakers or combat boot, just grunge it up a little.

I've just been realizing, more and more, you can pull off fashionable outfits and not sacrifice your comfort. Be you. Be peaceful and comfortable.

I leave you with this.

Love your favorite weirdo,
Jess

furry burgundy creature.

Dear fury burgundy creature,
come into my life... I've recently been obsessed with pinterest, and I've literally been focusing all my fashion energy towards repining (sad I know). But I get so much inspiration on this site it's crazy! It's basically an Eco friendly way to cut up magazine picture's and make a collage. I am in loveeeee!

Check out my fashion board here: https://pinterest.com/burrowed/fashion/

Oh almost forgot to explain my title! It comes from my major fall trend obsessions. Like the recent up rise with the color burgundy. Why... tell me why have we not been using this color every fall?! Don't get me wrong not everyone is walking around in head to toe burgundy, we're seeing it mostly as a statement piece with subtle tones. Like burgundy skinny's, heels or bag. And by furry I'm referring to all the fabulous fur vest's roaming about this fall (faux fur of course!) They've been spotted everywhere, but my personal favorite was in Jean Paul Gauthier's line.

Here are a few more trends I am obsessing over...

 Ankle Booties

call me crazy.

Dear summer,
Why do I hate your clothes so much? Call me crazy but I'm starting to miss fall clothing. Were right around the time where fall lines start coming out in stores and for me it's just torture. I can't buy anything because it's way too warm to start wearing all the heavy knits and scarfs. Call me a certified Man Repeller if you will, cause I just love layer's! T-shirts with cardigans, scarf's, beanies and boots, you name it, I have them in all shapes and colors. I have over 30 different scarf's... Which I'm ashamed to admit.

What's so bad with wanting to be all nuzzled up in your favorite scarf with a cup of joe, beside the fireplace and reading a great book? That to me is perfection! Laugh if you will, but I will never change my mind. Long live layer's!

I added a few makeup trends that I'm super excited for this fall! Gucci's deep plum lips, Burberry's smokey eye, geometric eyeliner for Lavin and Altuzarra.

P.S. Winter does not apply to this rant. Fall is the perfect temperature because the sun still shines and it's just chilly. Winter is beyond cold and the sun barely shines, I dislike it very much. The only good thing out of it is Christmas, everything afterwards is just pure crap.

Love to the fall lovers,
Jess

i'm back.

Dear readers,
I'm back! That's right I've awoken from the dead once again. I've been really out of the loop of my computer in the past month, and when I did get time off, I didn't quite know what I wanted to talk about. And so instead of blogging I was searching all sorts of street fashion blogs. In my search for inspiration I found nothing, yeah... Not the happy ending I was hoping for either but that is that. I've however been collecting picture's of outfits I love! So instead of lecturing you guys on how to pull off latest trends I will just show you what I've been obsessing over.

One trend train I'm gonna be hopping on to is color pants! I've already concord red pants and blue pastel pants, and so my colorful pant adventure brings me down the yellow brick road of none the less, yellow pants! (Picture from the Sartorialist)

Another trend that has been catching my eye these days is indeed the high\low hem. On everything!! Shirt's, skirt's, dresses.. Next thing you know their gonna be calling it the high low hair (which wouldn't be fooling anyone, it will forever be the ugly mullet).

Another obsession I've had lately is cargo! It was a big trend in Alexander Wang's last collection, which is one of my favorite designer's. I find it gives my outfits a little punch. (Picture from The Native Fox, another fellow blogger. I found her stuff over lookbook!)

Well I leave you with this, and with no promise of a close return, but with a promise of never giving up on fashion. And even if I'm not blogging you can be sure that I'm somewhere on the interweb searching up some fabulous clothing!

Love,
Jess

trends.

Dear Upper East Sider's,
I start this post sounding like Gossip Girl for one reason, because I am going to be talking about the Pastel trend floating about this season. Now as much as I love this trend I would also like to see it curl up in a ball and die. Let me elaborate my blunt-ness... I love this trend because it's new and fresh but it's being seriously over done, come on people pastel highlights in your hair? Yes at first I thought it was cool and unique but I've grown into a love hate relationship with it.

This infectious trend has been blown so out of proportion to the point that even people who wouldn't normally wear pastels, because it's totally not there style, are wearing it anyway? I will agree to disagree, because some of the trendy pastel outfits appeal to me in a edgy boho chic kinda way, but when you turn it into "tea with the queen" kinda look I'm not the biggest fan.

So to conclude my rant I would like to tell all the ladies out there to go dye your hair back, unless you were rocking it before it was "in" then keep rocking it cause you were cool before the rest of them!

Love to the weirdo's,
Jess

P.S. All the picture's posted are pastels that I accept in society.

oh hello world.

Hello again!
The sun is out and the birds are chirping, so I've decided to come out of my blogging hibernation, well that and the fact that I actually have a day off today! My normally scheduled blog post on Thursday needed to be postponed last week because I was busy with buying a car, that's right you read it correctly get of the road folks my fabulous driving isn't always safe.

But hey that's just me getting of topic, now for my come back I decided to make this post all about Sex and the City! In my latest down time I've become re-obsessed with watching HBO's finest ladies take on the big apple. These ladies redefined the meaning of great style at any age, having a television series with a 6 year run and moving on to releasing two blockbuster hit movies, what more could they ask for! Ever since seeing the movies I moved on to watching the show and own all of the season's on dvd. I can never get enough of them they pull together three of my most favorite things in the world, fashion, sexuality and the city!

It is Carrie Bradshaw's famous line that motivates my wardrobe... "I like my money where I can see it, hanging in my closet." Don't we all! I strive for the day I have over 200 pairs of designer shoes in my closet. Sarah Jessica Parker played Carrie on the show and got to wear designer clothing and accessories by Manolo Blahnik, Fendi, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Christian Louboutin, Jean Paul Gaultier and that's just to name a few. Needless to say anybody who has ever watched the show will be marked by Carrie Bradshaw's ambitious style and fearless take to every day dressing. I will be forever inspired by her style and will always use the line "this is so Carrie!" while shopping. Oh and I can't forget to mention Patricia Field! She was the stylist for the series, if it weren't for her none of the girls would look this amazing!

I leave you with gorgeous picture's of the girls in the city! Hope you were inspired.

Lots of love,
Jess

coachella craze.

Dear Music Lovers,
I'm gonna be honest and admit that I didn't know what Coachella was before this year, I'm actually embarrassed cause it seems to be an amazing festival. Maybe it's because I'm more social on the internet scene or the fact that it's getting so much media this year but oh my goodness do I ever love this festival! Amazing artist performing, incredible fashions, couples roaming around, celebrity sittings, what's not to love? It seems like Coachella is this vortex into the 70's were everyone would come together for music, celebrities out and about with their loved ones not thinking of the paparazzi, and great line ups of musical geniuses. And so all in all to say that it is now one of my goals to attend one of these festivals, because it seems like one hell of a good time!

I love the fact that one of the basic requirements for this event is to be dressed head to toe in hippie chic and or bohemian cool. Two of my most favorite styles combined with music, it creates the ultimate Woodstock-esque fantasy.

I leave you with my regrets, and I'm now moving forward knowing one day I'll be at Coachella in the heavens of fashion and music combined.

Lots of love,
Your crazy friend Jess.
